About Melañio Gomez

Thank you for viewing my portfolio, which showcases a number of photographic images that I've produced for both editorial & commercial clients.

Various experiences have led me to this point in my career. After graduating from art school I joined several packaging & graphic design firms in New York City. My start in photo styling began when I stepped in to help out a professional photographer who was operating on a limited budget.

From there I began freelancing working with Estee Lauder creating their displays, packaging, & special event graphics; with Tiffany & Co. as an illustrator, designing imagery for trophies; with a private label producer of fashion underwear; & with a firm that specialized in catalogs for high-end retail centers. I gained experience as an art director, stylist, & video producer, working with models for clients that included Ralph Lauren, The Limited, Old Navy, & The Gap.

Simultaneously, while freelancing in NYC, two art school friends & I founded a multi-disciplinary design firm called Top Spin. We eventually made the leap & went into business full time. Top Spin produced a wide range of industrial, graphic, & product designs. Our clients included lines for Crate & Barrel, Bloomingdale's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Barneys, Saks 5th Ave, The MTA, Garnet Hill, The Met, Saks 5th Ave, & SFMOMA.

The career ambitions of the Top Spin partners eventually took different directions & we ended the business. I began a series of new projects freelancing for David Beam, Phillip Baloun & Preston Bailey as an event florist & renovating several homes with my partner. Years before I had helped my mom restore her Philadelphia townhouse which proved to be excellent training for the years of renovation projects in my life.

I took a position at Martha Stewart Living Magazine  — first as a Style Editor & ultimately becoming the Editorial Director of Home. I produced content, products, photoshoots, and hosted a radio program airing on Sirius during my 8 years with Martha Stewart. I continue to produce stories as a Contributing Editor for Living Magazine.

Fifteen years ago my partner & I decided to relocate to Europe & settled in Brussels, Belgium.  After 6 months on the ground I took a position as an editor-at-large for an expat magazine called The Bulletin. I produced an advice column for expats who were relocating abroad, giving them style tips & resources for their transition. We decided to purchase a property in the center of Brussels where I had discovered an old Flemish bookstore built in the 17th century. It was so unique & had so many possibilities that we said yes to restoring & converting it into our flat.

Currently, I am based in New York City where I continue to freelance as a prop stylist & set designer — working on editorial & commercial projects both in the US & abroad.  In 2021 I joined the season 3 cast of NBC's Making It.

So pleased & excited to announce a collaboration with Perigold by Wayfair! I’ve curated a selection of products from their collection — accompanied by my holiday hosting & decorating tips.

Thanks again for your interest & for viewing my work.

Privacy Policy:

MelanioGomez.com is dedicated to maintaining your privacy and the protection of your personal information. This privacy policy details what information I collect on MelanioGomez.com and how that information is used. By using this Website, you are consenting to the practices and collection of information detailed in this privacy policy.

What information is collected and not collected:

1. Cookies and web beacons are used to track affiliate marketing links and provide web site usage analysis on my web site. More about this follows in the next section. Cookies and Web Beacons may provide anonymous data like your computer’s IP address, the browser type, browser version for example.
2. I do not collect any personally identifiable information such as your name, address and email address.

Cookies and Web Beacons:

While mostly my site is an online portfolio of my work, from time to time I may make available links to third party advertisers whose products I enjoy and that you may also enjoy. When you click on those links I may receive a commission if you purchase an item from the advertiser’s web site. To make this work, cookies (a small string of anonymous code placed on your computer) are used. In order to do analytics on my web-site, to know how many visitors there are, which pages they visited and so on, and to enable commissions I may receive from advertisers when you buy something from them, MelanioGomez.com, its advertisers or analytics partners may send a cookie to your computer or use web beacons to gather statistical information. A cookie does not identify you. It is simply a way to automatically send information about pages and content used to an analysis tool. If you never provide me with personally identifiable information, then your visits – despite my using cookies or web beacons – are anonymous. I don’t know the actual person linked with the cookie. It’s like having a library card but never having to provide your name, address or phone number to check out books. The books are checked out by someone using a particular library card number, but who owns that number isn’t known. If you were to provide personally identifiable information then I could potentially associate that with a cookie, then gather the visits with web beacons and understand how you personally have acted when visiting my web site. Advertisers may also use cookies and web beacons to ascertain how many times you’ve seen an advertisement. No personally identifiable information you give me is provided to them for cookie or web beacon use, so they cannot personally identify you with that information on my web site. Browsers can be set to accept or reject cookies or notify you when a cookie is being sent. Privacy software can be used to override web beacons. Taking either of these actions shouldn’t cause a problem with my site, should you so choose.

How information we collect may be shared with third parties:

I do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Third party links:

Occasionally, I may post links to other websites including social sharing buttons, advertiser links, graphics or banners. These third-party sites have separate and independent privacy policies. I therefore have no responsibility or liability for the content and activities of these linked sites. It is your responsibility to review the privacy policies at those websites to ensure you agree with their privacy policies.
